The Wolf Moon Waning: Integration, Release & Gentle Descent

The Wolf Moon Waning: Integration, Release & Gentle Descent

After the bright intensity of the Wolf Moon’s Full illumination, the lunar cycle begins to soften. The Waning phase is the first step of the Moon’s retreat—a subtle dimming, a gentle exhale after the fullness. This is a time when the light slowly decreases, inviting us to integrate what has been revealed during the peak of the Full Moon.

Where the Wolf Moon brings strength, clarity, and instinct, the Waning Moon asks:

What will you carry forward?

And what will you lovingly set down?

What does emotional rest look like for me?

The Moon is waning and the snow has been falling over the last days in Colorado. We have been waiting, waiting for the white landscape, for the snow to land, for stillness to arrive.

“You are wintering—
resting not out of weakness,
but out of wisdom.
This is the pause that nourishes growth.
This is the darkness where new intentions begin to stir.
This is the quiet that lets instinct rise like moonlight behind clouds”

To be honest, I have been tired and longing to rest for the last couple of days. The snow lays a heavy blanket not only over the landscape, but over my inner world also. I long for sleeping longer, for a nap, for rest, hot cacao and comfort at home. When the sun arrived yesterday, my energy softly come back and I now feel a little more energy to write my blog, do laundry, go for a walk to enjoy the white winter landscape and watch the sun gently melt the snow away. I often let my students know that it is ok to winter, rest is welcome, to listen to what their bodies are telling them and then I forget myself. My goal for this year is to listen more openly to what is happening within and allow the rest when it is needed.

We rest, we prepare, we recharge, just like we recharge our phones and cars every night. We need the sleep, the dreams, the processing to start again.

Allwoing rest, following the waning, the return to darkness.

Much Love and Wintering,

Penelope
